Developing Qualifications
Open Awards offers a comprehensive and cost effective accreditation service for customised courses.
We accredit programmes of learning for providers operating in a wide range of contexts. This includes schools (14+), Further Education Colleges, Universities, private training organisations, work-based learning in commercial businesses and public sector bodies (e.g. NHS, local government and prisons), voluntary sector organisations (national/local charities) and community organisations.
Our Business Development Adviser’s work closely with providers, offering advice and support in the accreditation of customised courses. We have a vast range of locally accredited units available for our Recognised Centres to select the most appropriate units for their course content and learners’ needs. Alternatively, we can work with you to develop new units or qualifications. Please contact your Business Development Adviser for further information.
Developing Qualifications for the QCF
Developing national qualifications with Open Awards can vary from using existing units in the QCF and developing new Rules of Combination, to developing new units and qualifications.
Support from the relevant Sector Skills Council or Standards Setting Body is essential, as is a robust business case.
Open Awards staff will help you through each stage of working out whether a new or revised qualification is the right step and advise on the likely timescale.
Units and qualifications can be developed with Open Awards across all levels of the QCF.
